I enjoy viewing DIY projects off of Pinterest, but always am too scared to attempt any of them. It was with some trepidation that I then agreed to sign-up for a mother/daughter flower-making class at Veronica's school. My initial reaction was to say 'no way'. Not only do I suck at this type of activity, but I also did not want to miss work to take part in it.
When Veronica started to cry, I realized that this class meant a lot to her. In the end I came to understand that it was not really the flower making that was important, but the time spent with Veronica and being involved with an activity she wanted to participate in was important! Luckily for me the flowers we were shown to make were quite simple.
It hit me that it did not matter if the flowers turned out looking like flowers as long as my little girl was enjoying herself! Time goes by so quickly that we have to grab every opportunity that we can to spend time with our kids while they are still kids. If Veronica is anything like I was, in a few years she may view me as the enemy and not want to have me involved in these types of mother/daughter events. I certainly hope this is not the case, but as the saying goes....'what goes around comes around.'
At the end of the night we both had smiles on our faces and were both quite proud of our tissue paper flowers. This is what the purpose of the activity was to start with!
