I was lucky as a kid as I had an Aunt and Uncle only living a couple of miles from the farm. As a result, I was quite close to this Aunt and Uncle and always felt that I could confide in my Aunt about many topics happening in my life. It is always nice to have someone to talk to outside of one's immediate family! This strong bond I had with this Aunt has made me want to ensure that my own kids have strong, positive relationships with their own Aunts and Uncles.
On Canada Day my children had such an opportunity with their Uncle Greg. Uncle Greg spent the afternoon jumping on the trampoline with my two children. When I say 'for the afternoon' I am not exaggerating. He spent a good two-three hours with my children making up games while jumping. Not only did he jump on the trampoline with them but he even allowed himself to become completely soaked in the clothes he was wearing while the sprinkler sprayed them as they were jumping!
This may not sound like a great big deal, but if you saw for yourself how utterly delighted my children were and how big the smiles on their faces were you would understand how much this activity meant to them. I think for awhile Uncle Greg felt like a kid again himself and I believe it was good for his soul just as much as it was for my kids! Thanks "Uncle" Greg, I do not think you realize how much that meant for my children!
