What could be better than their two favorite meals combined into one? As it turns out they were not as excited by this meal as I was, but they still liked it enough that I felt it was worthwhile to mention and share on my blog.
Macaroni Taco Bake

15 oz. can tomato sauce
1 1/4 oz. pkg taco seasoning mix
3 cups elbow macaroni, cooked
8 oz. container sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Garnish; green onions, chopped
Brown beef, drain. Stir in tomato sauce and seasoning mix. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Combine cooked macaroni, sour cream and 1/2 the cheddar cheese in a bowl. Spoon macaroni mixture into a greased 13 X 9 pan. Top with the beef mixture and remaining cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Garnish with green onions.
Interesting Tidbit: According to CliffordAWright.com the origin of macaroni lies within Arab culture and not the Etruscans, Greeks, Romans or Chinese as some have thought. By the 15th century macaroni was commonly known and eaten in Italy. The very first macaroni products were most likely little balls of pasta which could be easily stored and cooked quickly. By the late 18th century macaroni was the food of the common people in Italy.
