If you do not care for basketball I understand, but for me it is one of my favorites! I have loved basketball since I was a kid. Growing up on the farm I always wished my dad would pour a cement pad and install a hoop so I could practice. Alas, that never happened so instead I would sneak out to the Quonset where we had a hoop (with no net) that I would attach to the door and practice amongst all of dads tools, tool boxes, tractors etc.
I played basketball during my Junior High and High school years. Looking back, I wish I would have committed myself to the game and practices a lot more than I did. We all have regrets right! I attended University for six years but was too scared to try out for the basketball team. Instead I would play recreationally once in awhile or just shoot some hoops by myself. Eventually I became a teacher and ended up using my talents as the coach of the girls high school basketball team for two years in Spirit River, Alberta. It was a rewarding experience passing on my knowledge and love of the game.
I still enjoy shooting hoops as the park behind the house where I currently live has a basketball court. Now I am showing my own children how to play the game. The point I am trying to make is that we all have a passion about something in life whether it is a sport, cooking, photography etc. It is never too late to pursue and to keep pursuing that passion in some form!
Thought of the day: Where in the nursery rhyme does it say Humpty Dumpty is an egg?
Quote of the day: There is no such thing as a perfect basketball player, and I don't believe there is only one greatest player either. Michael Jordan (former professional basketball player)
