I went through a phase around a year ago where I wanted to find out about meditation and how I could incorporate it into my own life. I took a few books out of the library, two of which I felt were very insightful. The first titled "Walking Meditation", by Thich Nhat Hanh discussed what meditation is, and the steps needed to practice meditation while walking, which is something I do everyday. The second book was written by the Dalai Lama. It lists daily meditations for each day of the year.
The main idea that I took from each book is that taking the time each day to spend on meditation is what is important. That and learning to breathe properly while meditating! Finding a space where one can be alone and relax is also a must.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to consistently incorporate into my life the time for myself to 'meditate'. I realized yesterday in those five minutes that for my own well-being, I need to make the time each and everyday to have that meditation moment in order to keep the joy in my life!
Thought of the day: What would happen if an Irresistible Force met an Immovable object?
Quote of the day: Meditation can help us embrace our worries, our fear, our anger; and that is very healing. We let our own natural capacity of healing do the work. Thich Nhat Hanh (Vietnamese Zen Buddhist, monk, teacher, author, poet and peace activist)
