Do not get me wrong. Anyone who knows me at all knows that I love sports. If there is a hockey, baseball, or football game on television I will watch these sports regardless of the team's playing. In all honesty I cannot get into watching NASCAR. I do enjoy that I can sit and read a book while it is on and not really miss anything! Crashes are the best part of the races and even then I feel bad for thinking that because I do not wish for anyone to be injured or killed. The last ten laps are probably the best laps of the race to watch, but after watching 190 laps who really cares?
When I first started watching NASCAR with Stephen I tried to stay neutral and not care who won the races. I have found that in order to stay interested I had to pick a driver to cheer for. This has led to a bit of a rivalry between Stephen and I as he cheers for Dale Earnhardt Jr. This rivalry does make the races more entertaining for me. Maybe I need to see a race live to be able to fully appreciate the sport!
Regardless of what it is, we often find ourselves making compromises in our lives for those that we love. As long as it is reciprocated, in my case getting Stephen to watch the television series True Blood with me, I have nothing to complain about!
