Fortunately the weather was nice for the majority of the time so a lot of the weekend was spent outside with the kids. Everything from playing on the swing-set to fighting over who got to drive the gator next was on the agenda. My brother and I even tossed the football around for a good chunk of time. My body paid for this the next day though! Since it was Easter we of course painted Easter eggs. As it turns out, the adults had more fun doing this than the kids did, although that could have been due to the margaritas we were consuming!
Regardless of the odd disagreement amongst the kids, I felt the weekend went smoothly. My mom got to have all her kids and grandkids together for part of a day which I know meant a lot to her. When I was younger these family gatherings were not as important to me as they seem to be now. As I have grown older and had children, my attitude about family has grown stronger. I want my children to be best friends with their cousins and to have aunts and uncles they want to spend time with. Having a strong relationship with family is important to me because life can change so quickly! I want my kids to have special memories of spending time with our family and to have strong family values that they will pass on to their own kids someday.
My family is not perfect, noones is, but I am proud to have the family that I have. I know they are always there for me even with all of our differences. I cannot wait for the next family get together!
Thought of the day: Why are you IN a movie, but your ON television?
